Renting a car in Croatia can enhance your travel experience and provide you with the flexibility to explore the country at your own pace. Here's how to prepare for renting a car in Croatia

To rent a car in Croatia, you need the following documents:

  • Driver's License and ID document

You must have a valid driver's license. In most cases, your regular driver's license from your home country is sufficient. However, if your license is not in Roman alphabet characters (e.g., Cyrillic, Arabic, etc.) you will need to have International Driving Permit (IDP) along with your regular driver's license.

You will need to present a valid form of identification, such as a passport or national ID card.

  • Credit or debit card

If you hire a car with Start or Medium insurance you will need a credit card for security purposes. The credit card is used for the rental excess fee and any additional charges incurred during the rental period.

Debit cards are accepted only with Premium insurance car rental as excess fee is reduced to €0,00 wit that insurance included.
  • Additional documents

If you make a reservation online or through a travel agency, you will have a rental voucher or reservation confirmation number. This can come in handy when picking up the rental car. It is not mandatory but can save your pickup time !
