Avax rent a car offers three different insurance packages which can be selected in the booking process. Depending on which insurance package you select, you can reduce the risk and amount of participation(excess) in the damage. Avax rent a car company is lessor, and driver is a lessee. Excess fee is maximum amount of lessee's liability.

Third party protection

  • Our legal responsibility is to have Third Party Protection
  • All vehicles are insured against liability for damage caused to a third party

Start insurance package

Start insurance package is included in the basic rental price. It is no additional cost to the rental price and a lessee is liable for rented car damages up to the amount of excess fee. Excess depends on vehicle category and is in the range from €750,00 to €1.500,00. 

Start insurance includes:

  • CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) - Reduces the financial responsibility from the full value of the vehicle to the excess amount in the event of an accident. Insurance does not cover damages caused to tires, chassis, windows and vehicle interior (unless the interior damage is result of an accident).
  • TP (Theft protection) - Reduces the financial responsibility from the full value of the vehicle to the amount of excess in the event of vehicle theft.

Medium insurance package 

Medium insurance package is additional cost to the rental calculated by vehicle category and rental duration. With medium insurance package, lessee partially reduces excess amount and joins SCDW and PAI to the rental package. Excess depends on vehicle category and is in the range from €250,00 - €450,00.

Medium insurance includes:

  • CDW (Collision Damage Waiver)
  • TP (Theft protection)
  • RE (Reduced excess) - Refers to decreasing amount of excess which is lessee's maximum liability. The Excess amount (security deposit) is a preauthorised amount held by the rental company to cover potential damages that are not included in selected insurance package.
  • SCDW (Super Collision Damage Waiver) - Reduces the financial responsibility to the excess amount in the event of an accident. Insurance does not cover damages caused to tires, chassis, windows and vehicle interior (unless the interior damage is result of an accident).
  • PAI (Personal Accident Insurance) - Part of the policy according to which drivers and passengers in the vehicle are insured against an accident for death and disability up to the amount prescribed by the insurance company.

Premium insurance package 

Premium insurance package is additional cost to the rental calculated by vehicle categroy and rental duration. With premium insurance package lessee completely reduces excess amount to €0,00 and joins WUG to the rental package. Premium insurance package is full insurance and it fully declines lessee's risk and responsibility. Lessee is obligated to respect and follow Terms and conditions provided by lessor.

Premium insurance includes:

  • CDW (Collision Damage Waiver)
  • TP (Theft protection)
  • SCDW (Super Collision Damage Waiver)
  • RE (Reduced excess)
  • PAI (Personal Accident Insurance)
  • WUG (Wheels, Underside and glass) - Part of the contract that releases lessee's responsibility for damages/destruction of vehicle tires, rims and rim covers, vehicle chassis and vehicle windows. Lessee is not released for responsibility of damages/demolition of vehicle interior (unless the interior damage is result of an accident).

WUG does not exclude obligation to contact the police and Avax rent a car representative in case of vehicle damage.

Premium insurance package is mandatory selection for some special circumstances. Premium insurance package must be included if: lessee does not own a valid credit card, lessee belongs to the category of young driver or if lessee belongs to the category of senior driver.

What is excluded from the protection?

Lessee is obligated to respect Terms and conditions Avax rent a car company provided. Violation of rental agreement and terms and conditions provided by Avax rent a car results in the void of insurance package terms (where permitted by law). Prohibited use of the vehicle violates agreement.

Prohibited uses:

  • Unauthorized repairs to the vehicle
  • Negligent or drunk driving and/or driving under influence of drugs
  • Driving on unauthorized roads or to prohibited areas/countries
  • Any other use that is considered violation by official Terms and conditions

Roadside assistance is not a part of insurance packages. It is additional extra service which can be selected as Addon.

Not covered by any type of insurance:

  • Wrong fuelling - refers to the act of putting the wrong type of fuel into a vehicle's fuel tank. If you realize you've put the wrong fuel in your car, it's important to address the issue promptly. Note: If you realize you've put the wrong fuel in a vehicle, Do Not Start the Engine and Immediately contact Avax rent a car representative. Wrong fuelling results in lessee being fully responsible for the costs of repair, correction and other necessary actions related to the wrong fuelling event.
  • Vehicle key loss - refers to the situation of losing the keys of rented vehicle. It's important to address the issue promptly to ensure the security of rented vehicle. Note: Immidiately contact Avax rent a car representative. Vehicle key loss results in lessee being fully responsible for the costs of repair, correction and other necessary actions related to the vehicle key loss.

Your obligation in case of a car accident

  • Immediately calling and waiting for the arrival of police officers
  • Report incident to Avax rent a car representative (phone or email)
  • Collect personal data of the participants in the accident (name, surname, VAT number/OIB, address, identity card number, driver's license number, user of the vehicle, vehicle's insurance company information, vehicle insurance policy number, contact phone, etc.)
  • Enclosing all police reports on the accident or damage, as well as the results of the breathalyzer test when returning the vehicle
