For us, transparency is key value. We want you to travel to your destination with the utmost serenity, without worrying about surprises or unexpected things. This section contains the General Rental Conditions that you will be invited to subscribe at our locations when picking up your car. Please, take a look before booking online; this way you'll spare time at the pick-up so you can travel carefree to your destinations.
Who can drive the car?
- Authorised driver should be 22-69 years old (If driver is 18-21 or 70+, Age driver fee applies)
- Driver's License: You must produce a valid driver’s license for the car rental. A full license held for minimum of 2 years with no major endorsements. The minimum driver age required is 22. If the customer is in the age range 18 -21 young driver fee in the amount of 10 Eur per day with a maximum of 87,50 Eur per rental will apply. When collecting a vehicle the principal driver & any additional drivers will need to provide driver’s license on their name. International lessees must present a valid license from their country of residence. A copy of your license will not be accepted, the original document must be presented at pick-up.
- Authorised driver must be licensed to drive requested type of Vehicle
- One Additional Authorized driver is free of charge
- Third driver will be charged 2 Eur per day
Mandatory documents
- Passport or ID and driver’s license
- Driver's licenses printed with Arabic, Chinese or Cyrillic letters must be accompanied by an International Driver's Permit
- All Latin characters readable driver's licenses are accepted

Fuel policy
- Fuel tank will be full or partly full when you pickup your car
- The lessee has to return the vehicle with the same level of fuel as delivered except if lessee pre-purchased fuel
- If you don’t return the vehicle with the same level of fuel as delivered, we will charge you price per litre to fill the missing fuel + refuelling Service
- There are no refunds for unused fuel
Payment methods
- Payment is performed upon your arrival to Avax location at beginning of your car rental period
- For payment we accept: Credit card, Debit card or Cash
- American Express card is accepted
- For deposit/excess we accept only valid credit cards (MasterCard or Visa)
- The credit card holder must be present when performing a payment
- You can rent a car if you don't have a credit card, in that case Premium insurance + no credit card fee applies
One way rentals
- All cars are available for one way rentals in Croatia
- One way rental fee depends on pickup and return locations (will be calculated via online booking engine)
- One way rentals for pickup in Croatia and return outside of Croatia are available on request
Pickup and return
- Collection and return of the vehicle are possible during working hours in the Lessor's branches
- Collection and return outside of working hours are charged 50 Eur for pickup outside of working hours and 50 Eur for return outside of working hours
- Car needs to be returned during business hours or agreed time
- Personally request an extension of the agreed rental period from the Lessor at least 24 hours before the expiration of the rental period
Cross border
- Cross Border Rentals are allowed without additional charge to the following countries: ALL EU COUNTRIES(Except Greece), Bosnia, Serbia and Montenegro
- For North Macedonia, Albania & Kosovo fee applies; 80 Eur for rental period, option can be selected under the Addons section
- We do not allow rented vehicles to go to the following countries: Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova, Ukraine, Belarus, Turkey, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Russia unless we have given you written permission to do so
Ferry/Island/Transit permission
- Free permission for transport of vehicles aboard ferries
- Ferrying the car to any island in Croatia is allowed
Please have a note that ticket for ferry and passengers are not included in car rental price
Kilometer/mileage charge
- Unlimited kilometer/mileage is included in our rates., please have a note that this is subject to our fair usage policy. For rentals generally it is allowed 600 km per day. Eventual extra will be charged per price list (0.3 EUR/ 1 km)
Your obligation in case of a car accident
- Immediately calling and waiting for the arrival of police officers
- Report incident to Avax rent a car representative (phone or email)
- Collecting personal data of the participants in the accident (name, surname, VAT number/OIB, address, identity card number, driver's license number, user of the vehicle, vehicle's insurance company information, vehicle insurance policy number, contact phone, etc.)
- Enclosing all police reports on the accident or damage, as well as the results of the breathalyzer test when returning the vehicle
Prohibited uses of vehicle
- To rent or to lend Vehicle to third persons
- To overload the rented Vehicle with persons or goods over the maximum permitted
- To drive the Vehicle outside the permitted countries of use without lessor's permission
- To carry inflammable, explosive or corrosive materials in the Vehicle
- To drive the Vehicle on an unsealed road
- To use Vehicle for illegal purposes
- Any other use that is considered violation by official Terms and conditions
