About Avax Rent a Car

Avax Rent a Car is operated by Fuerte d.o.o., a Croatian company headquartered in Split. Founded in 2016, Avax began with a small fleet of vehicles at the Split Airport office. Our founding principle was simple: car rental in Croatia should be transparent, affordable, and free of the hidden charges that frustrate travelers across Europe.

What started as a small operation in Split has grown into a network of rental stations at four major airports (Split, Dubrovnik, Zagreb, and Zadar) and city centers across the Croatian coast, including the islands of Korcula and Vela Luka. Today, our fleet includes over 50 vehicle categories ranging from compact economy cars to premium SUVs and automatic transmissions, serving more than 15,000 customers per year.

A key milestone came when we eliminated the deposit requirement for customers choosing our Premium insurance package, making us one of the first car rental companies in Croatia to offer zero-deposit rentals. We also introduced debit card acceptance, removing one of the biggest barriers for travelers who do not carry credit cards. In 2022, we expanded our cross-border policy to include free travel to Montenegro and Bosnia & Herzegovina on rentals of 3 days or more.
